Now I just have to cover another 183 sq. inches with this. (Not really, it’s super important to have white/negative space otherwise you just make a page full of detailed noise.) Detail shot from this piece.
Pilot for Meriteriak Traders Consortium, and #carolcorps member, with one of her ship’s scouting drones. (No real connection to Kelly Sue’s excellent book, but I thought of the Carol Corps as I was drawing her, so there we go.) She’s wearing anti-blackout pants over her Sidcot suit, that inflate to keep the blood from draining to your legs during high-G maneuvers. I drew them mostly from memory, so they’re probably not super accurate.)
Super early WIP. One of the cities in Symbiosis, in Tirhaelia, the major agricultural power in this world. I’m basically rebuilding Kansas City as an architectural palimpsest. Ancient stonework at the bottom levels, moving up in history to modern (’40s) skyscrapers. Everything in between peeking through here and there. I’m trying to keep things pretty upbeat with this book, so the lower areas are just old, not necessarily horrid slums as is fairly stereotypical for sci-fi layered architecture.
This is one of those things where painting this would serve me better at this stage, as far as showing off, but oh wells. If you can see where I’m going, cool. If not, it will be finished in the book or you’ll see more if you are subscribed to the work updates elist.
